Multi-Engine I.F.R. Internship Program
Helicopter Flight Training Academy has recently announced the commencement of a cadet internship program.
Graduate pilots of this programme may be offered positions as full-time co-pilots with helicopter emergency rescue service operators, for a one year placement. Working as a co-pilot, graduates will gain valuable experience operating in a range of conditions.
In partnership with a number of emergency rescue helicopter operators HFT will provide opportunities for graduates to join these operators as co-pilots flying rescue helicopter operations, on a one year placement.
Multi-Engine I.F.R. Advanced course
The MEIFR Course is an advanced program to meet the growing need for Multi-engine IFR trained pilots.
Significant expansion of MEIFR operations in Air Ambulance, SAR and Oil and Gas offshore services, now require pilots to hold this qualification.
There are opportunities for selected pilots to join the HFT internship program.
In partnership with a number of emergency rescue helicopter operators, HFT ACADEMY may provide opportunities for HFT Advanced Certificate in Aviation graduates to join an Air Ambulance and Rescue service as a co-pilot, flying a multi-engine IFR helicopter.
The graduates of the MEIFR Advanced course may be employed as full-time Co-Pilots, for a one year placement. As a co-pilot, graduates will gain valuable experience operating in a range of both day and night conditions..

Course Description - Flight Training
This covers the NZ CAA syllabus for an Instrument Rating. Your Instrument Rating Flight Test will be conducted by an ASL approved flight testing officer. Extensive use is made of Cockpit procedure training and an Instrument flight simulator.
Human Factors and Two Pilot tasking, along with Crew Resource Management training is a significant part of this module.
HUET training module is provided to demonstrate the risks and safety procedures for over water operations and emergency procedures.
Entry requirements for the Certificate in Aviation Advanced MEIFR course:
Hold a NZ CAA CPL license with VFR night requirements
50 hours cross country Pilot in Command minimum
Have a Turbine Type Rating
Complete the HFT COMPASS selection program
Complete the HFT selection examinations
Complete the HFT group workshop
Complete the HFT panel interviews
Consideration will be given to applicants that hold CAA examination credits for:
Instrument rating subjects
ATPL (H)
