Aviation is an important part of the New Zealand economy, as it provides a range of services to the Transport Infrastructure.

Helicopters are an integral part of the Aviation Industry. Key sectors such as Tourism and Agriculture utilize Helicopters widely. Other significant uses of Helicopters are Air Ambulances, Search and Rescue Services, Law enforcement by the Police, oil and gas offshore exploration and production support and charter services for photography, filming, surveying and passenger services. Flight training is the foundation from which all these activities are based.

Helicopter Flight Training - is approved by NZ Civil Aviation Authority (NZCAA) as a flight training organisation provider under rules Part 141.

Our training courses are available in Six (6) programmes.

Registration Form

Our PPL course can be conducted in 10 weeks as a fulltime programme, subject to weather. Part time training is available in some circumstance.
This training provides the trainee with the skills to fly a helicopter for private and leisure use. Once issued pilots can fly themselves, friends and colleagues in a helicopter.
If your dream is to have and fly your own helicopter, this training will provide you with the skills and confidence to operate safely and enjoy helicopter travel.

Most medium size helicopter are powered by Jet Turbine Engines. This course offers advanced training flight hours and a turbine helicopter training, with the issue of the Turbine rating, endorsed on your pilot licence.

The Instructor rating is an advanced course. It requires significant commitment by the candidate. The course requires a thorough understanding of all Flight Instruction requirements so as to be able to begin to train helicopter student pilots.

Pilots that have completed their Commercial Pilots Licence (Helicopter) can apply for positions on this course. This is further 29-36 weeks, of demanding training with high levels of proficiency and skills required. The course is in two parts of approximately 18 weeks each. Being a qualified Helicopter Instructor often enhances employment opportunities.

This is a 52 week full time course that is based on the current Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requirements. Our classes for the ground theory have both class sessions and one-on-one tutorials. We ensure that your learning progress is monitored continuously. Our Instructors will provide daily support for you, with all the subjects covered within the programme.

Larger helicopters are mostly twin engine. This course offers conversion training for pilots to qualify to fly twin-engine helicopters.
There is a comprehensive ground course covering helicopter systems, normal and emergency procedures and operational techniques.

The Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) module of the course develops pilots IFR skills – this is where the helicopter is flown and navigated purely by the pilot operating the helicopter by reference to the instruments and gauges on the control instrument panel. For pilots considering a career in Emergency rescue and Air Ambulance and Off-shore oil and gas logistics roles, this qualification is a significant step towards that career path.
