This course is available for those students that have completed a CPL and wish to complete an instructor rating as part of their career pathway plan or to pursue a career in instructing.
This complete helicopter IFR training course is designed to take a Commercial Pilot who has logged at least 50 hours of cross-country flight time, as pilot in command, to an IFR rated pilot.

Would you like to experience the thrill of flying a helicopter yourself? You have found the place to do so safely. You will be briefed by one of our senior instructors before departing on your trial flight to experience what it is like first hand to fly a helicopter.
Now flying in Papua New Guinea and Fiji, David initially completed his CPL-H in 2007 and went on to complete the Flight Instructors course. He was employed by HFT for two years as an instructor. He then worked in Canada and Fiji before flying the BELL 212 in PNG. This work involves supporting exploration programs in remote parts of the country, flying personnel and long-line lifting.
Elton is a co-pilot for NEST on a Rescue Service Sikorsky S76 helicopter. His work involves Air Ambulance and Rescue Day and Night flying, winch operations and use of Night vision goggles. After completing his Flight Instructor course with HFT, he worked as a ground theory lecturer and flight instructor. Elton was awarded the first HFT Flight Path Scholarship in 2011.
Now based in Rotorua, Paul completed his Flight Instructor course with HFT in 2011 and then joined the instructing team. From a career in the RNZAF in helicopter maintenance, he was the natural choice to pilot the M*A*S*H BELL 47 that is operated by HFT. He is based in Rotorua and flies a wide variety of Flight-Seeing journeys, charter services and adventure flights including an active Volcano Tour on White Island.
Having completed his CPL with HFT in 2011, Matthew worked as ground crew with an established agricultural company where he consolidated his training and knowledge of agricultural operations. He then completed his Ag-Rating in 2012 and gained employment flying the latest R66 Turbine powered helicopter. The R66 is equipped with state-of-the-art technology for accurate placement and recording of the nutrient material distribution. Matthew enjoys the challenges and rewards of Ag-Flying with wide variety of terrains and working environments.
